Why is Omegle shutting down?

The substantial costs of managing Omegle and addressing potential misuse, according to founder Leif K-Brooks, were the primary reasons for the site's closure. "Even though I wish things were different, the stress and cost of this battle, along with the stress and cost of running Omegle and combating its misuse - are simply too much," he said in a statement. Omegle was also scrutinised for its role in online abuse, which led to its closure. K-Brooks mentioned the platform's vulnerability to attacks as well as the financial burden of dealing with misuse. Despite the difficulties, K-Brooks emphasised Omegle's positive impact in fostering cross-cultural connections and providing support. "Omegle has been used by users over the years to help them feel less alone and lonely, learn about other cultures, and get life advice from objective third parties."
